Differential equations – Partial differential equations
Definition: A partial differential equation is an equation involving an unknown function of several variables and its partial derivatives.
We consider three main types:
- the heat equation or diffusion equation,
- the wave equation,
- the Laplace equation or potential equation.
In all cases we only use one single method: the method of separation of variables.
